Upscale Lampshade- HOW TO
Materials:
- Old metal frame lampshade
- White cotton Fabric, Floral print fabric
- Old Town Paints - Chalk Style Finish in Daffodil & Tangerine - Clear Satin Finish
- Iron, Sharp Scissors, Needle and Thread, Bowl for Water & Paint
Instructions:
- Remove old Fabric from lampshade to expose the metal frame.
- Tear White Fabric into 2" wide strips, the length of the fabric.
- Tie Fabric Strips onto a hanger
- Gather up the ends of the Fabric and put into a bowl that you have well mixed 1 C. water with 2 Tbs. Daffodil Paint. Allow Fabric to soak up mixture until it is the color that you desire. Squeeze excess water out and let day. Repeat on the other side with 1 C. water with 2 Tbs. Tangerine Paint. Let dry. (Press fabric if necessary)
- Wrap both the top and bottom of the frame with the Fabric strips securing at the end by knotting and tucking ends back in.
- Secure a new strip at the top corner. Continue weaving Fabric horizontally around the frame, wrapping around the corners as you go. About 2 inches before you reach the end connect with another piece of fabric by knotting and folding to secure the loose ends in as you continue to weave.
- Iron Floral Fabric flat.
- Using Sharp Scissors cut out designs. Paint with Clear Satin Finish. Let dry. (If you choose, you can just paint the complete piece of fabric and then cut out the shapes).
- Attach the floral cut outs to the bottom of the woven lamp shade using needle and thread.
- We painted the lamp base to match the colors of the Fabric flowers, distressed with sandpaper and sealed with Clear Satin Finish and let it dry.
- Assemble when complete.
